Calculation method of the specific fuel oil consumption in low-speed marine diesel engines
Abstract
The paper presents a calculation method of the specific fuel oil consumption in low-speed marine diesel engines,based on a multi-level regression analysis for data available from catalogues issued by the engine makers, considering the data as statistical sets. The obtained functional relationship yields results differing by less than 5.5% from their respective catalogue values. The comparison is made for more than fifty engine types of Sulzer and MAN-Burmeister & Wain make.
