INDUSTRY 4.0 – REQUIREMENTS FOR THE NEW GENERATION OF ERP SYSTEMS

Abstract

The article specifies the design-application requirements for ERP systems, which should efficiently support the manufacturing management of the new industry generation. In section 1 the technological generations were identified and linked in the spheres: manufacturing, computer industry and Internet. Afterwards (section 2) the main components of industry 4.0 were analyzed and illustrated with practical examples regarding the digitization of matter / Internet of things. In section 3 relationships were researched – between the operating system in companies and the IT area, pointing to the ERP system as the center of applications. On this basis,
in section 4, four key features of ERP were proposed and commented. In the summary (5), a number of conclusions was quoted and directions for further researches were proposed.
